R-40 Homes (Sustainable – Eco friendly – Energy efficient

Posted by admin in Fire ratings of roofing on 08 14th, 2009

R-40 Homes, Inc. has a patent on a new building system/technology, U.S. Patent 6,185,891 that is the most economical sustainable way to construct a building than any other system anywhere! The system uses recycled Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), sheet metal and concrete; no wood in the whole home except for cabinets and doors! Our goal was to improve both the quality and strength of conventional building materials that would not deteriorate due to natural causes including earthquakes, hurricane winds, fire, and termite damage. More importantly our technology reduces the consumption of electricity, which in turn reduces the carbon footprint.
Our proposal is an incremental and possibly revolutionary improvement on the process utilizing structural insulated panels (SIPs). Our patented technology has two main attributes. The first is the polystyrene panels are not just used on all exterior and interior walls but with the roof as well. By constructing this method it creates an entire insulated system that has been tested to reflect R-40 insulation rating. The second improvement involves the application of a proprietary compound called ClivecreteÔ to the interior and exterior of the panels. This compound is a fortified concrete mixture, strengthened by complex polymer reactions, which provides hurricane-resistant structural integrity to the house or structure. The application of ClivecreteÔ not only strengthens, but also provides ancillary benefits such as increased insulation and energy savings, fire retardant properties, and eliminates the need for further materials on the interior and exterior walls (i.e. dry wall, brick, siding etc.) ClivecreteÔ can finish with any texture or color on the interior and exterior of the building, including but not limited to (tile appearance, stucco, sanded, etc). In effect, R-40 Homes has created a building method that will drastically lower you material cost, decrease the number of laborers to construct the house, save time on the building cycle, and create a structure that is the premier environmental and healthy solution on the market.
The system is engineered to withstand winds in excess of 190mph, can’t burn down, no termites and almost maintenance free. We feel that we have the best building system available anywhere in the world because of the energy savings, cost of construction, disaster resistant and durability. We presented the system to HUD and PATH (Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing Program) in Washington and they were very impressed with the system. They indicated that they review thousands of new products and my system was the first that they had ever seen that met all four of their requirements.
