Where can I get large quantities of broken roofing tile for free in sacramento?
Posted by admin in Tile roofing on 02 25th, 2010My wife and I run a horse boarding stable. We took over the property lease and need to do some repairs to the driveways. Gravel and road base are beyond our budget right now and potholes are opening up. I’ve noticed that much of the road is actually made up of broken roofing tiles. Over time they become embedded into the road and act like a cobblestone layer. The previous tenants must have found huge quantities of it, but we don’t know where to start.
Where can we look for the quantities we need? It needs to be free if possible. What happens to broken tiles from construction sites? Are they separated out or mixed with other construction trash? Could we find a landfill and get it from there? We only have a pickup so it would be nice if it was delivered. We could pay for that part. Thanks for any info.
Cant asnwer your direct question, but having worked for ceramic company I say:
"un fired" problematic products : go back to mixing preparation area.
"fired" problematic products : % 5 goes to grinder and mixing area, % 95 goes to garbage. (and we pay for every truck, both transportation money and garbage money)
So in my firm people can take free "fired + defective" products, or other way we pay for it to garbage.
For my opinion check the companies around from the web, and possibly phone to them. Dont get tired, one may be more should be accept, but tell them you have your own truck and you will transport.
IF they wanna sell to you dont pay more than 1/8 of their 1st quality selling price.
If the product is glazed, and the more higher the firing temperature, the more "garbage" is defective product.
