What is the best rooting materials for house?
My parents are planning to replace our old roofing materials with new materials. There are so many types of roofing materials out there in addition to traditional roofing shingles. For example,
**They like the mental roofing system (http://www.interlockroofing.com/), but we don`t know how good is it?
**My question is do you know what is the best roofing material that we can buy that would last for a long time?
FYI,
We live in Canada and during Winter, the snow build up create some massive weight on the roof AND there is always hail (with golf ball size ice) falling from the sky almost every two years. So, we need a strong material. My parents are love to have the metal roofing but have no idea if the metal roofing will be OK in the Canadian Winter and hail seasons ![]()
check out Gerard asphalt coated metal shingles, they have a good hail warranty. Look for a hail classification rating and hail warranty on whatever you are looking at.

I also am contemplating a metal roof. I think the installer makes a big difference in the quality. Newer metal roofing comes in many designs so you need to pick the look you want. Get at least 3 estimates.

The standing seam roof is the best there is. Lasts 50+ years. Not cheap though.
