What Roofing Materials Should You Use ?
Roofing Materials
Whether you are building a new property or replacing the roof of an existing one, the roofing materials you choose are of critical importance. Not only does the roof protect your property from the elements, rain, snow, wind etc. but it also forms part of the insulation of the building and that can have an effect on your heating bills. There is also an insurance implication, obviously there is a greater risk of fire if you have a thatched roof as opposed to a tile roof
Types of Roofing Materials
These days there are many different types of roofing materials available and where the building is situated depends greatly on the type of roofing material you use.
If you are familar with an area you will be aware of the roof most of the properties have and that is obviously a good starting point in investigating the type of roofing materials you require. If you are not an expert in roofing its always worth speaking to professional roofers in the area and asking their advice.
When fitting the roof you have to decide if you are going to do the job yourself or contract a professional roofer. Remember even if you have the best roofing materials in the world if they are not fitted correctly they will be a waste of money and trying to mend or replace parts of a roof once it is fitted can cost a fortune and prove very difficult. So do you consider you have enough experience to do a proper job or do you need to employ professionals ?
Solar Roofing
In the present economic climate a lot of people are looking at having solar panels incorported into their roofing. As well as being enviromentally friendly they can also save you money on your bills once they have been installed.
Tiles
Tiles are one of the most poplar forms of roofing. They are very durable, fireproof and available in many different styles and colors.
Metal Roofing
Metal roofing is of course very strong, will last a life time and is fire resistant. It is used in a lot of commercial premises as well as residential properties and as its popularity has grown so have the number of colors and styles to choose from.
Shingle Used As Roofing Materials
Fiberglas shingles are now replacing the more traditional asphalt shingles that have been used on a large proportion of homes over the last 70 years.
Slate Roofing
Slate roofing is initially one of the most expensive types of roofing but will generally last a lifetime if not longer! You can now buy many different varities and many different colors are available. Generally used on more expensive buildings.
So whatever form of roofing materials you are looking for, do your homework, speak to professional roofers and once it is installed your new roof should last you a life time with few maintenance problems.
Has anyone ever seen roofing material with wonderbread advertisement on it?
