yes. I moved into a new home about 3 yrs ago and all the homes here had "sand" looking stuff at the bottom of our rain gutters after the first storm. They are called composition roofs. better quality roofing doesnt do that as much but it is somewhat normal. References : personal experience
If the shingles were installed by professionals and they still fall, then the reason would be the shingles themselves. Most come with warranties and if they fail, need to be replaced. On the other hand, it is possible that some shingles were "missed" or overlooked during the installantion process. You can determine this by looking at the fallen shingles directly. If there are no nail holes present, then it’s time to contact your contractor.
Yes, this is very normal and you will see this for a while. You see these granules because they are loosened up during instillation, not to worry though, the manufacture placed extra granules on the roofing shingle for that reason. References : contractor 28 yrs in biz:

Yes, your new roof will shed until it has been in the hot sun a few days & had a couple good hard rains.
