Roofing: Is installing drip edge difficult on an existing cement tile roof?
I currently have gutters installed on a small roof area over a bay window. Since the area is so small the gutters really don’t do much and the sound of the water dripping in the gutter can keep me up at night.
I want to remove the gutters, but I noticed that the person who installed them cut vertically into the drip edge along the span of the roof edge and intermittently wedged the gutters under the drip edge.
So if I take the gutters down, I should replace the drip edge. I’m wondering if this is difficult to do on an existing roof. My roof is a cement tile roof.
I’m not planning on doing this myself, but I am just wondering if I’d be getting into a big project by doing this.
Drip edge needs to go under the edge of the tile, so I would think it would be difficult to install without removing the tile.
In any case, IMO, you are better off with the gutters. I just installed gutters, because water ran down the drip edge, and warped my fascia boards.
They sell gutter covers, which are meant to keep leaves out of the gutters. Installing those might muffle the dripping water sound.
